Acupuncture

The insertion of hair-fine needles into the superficial layers of the skin, along different meridians in the body.  Needles are virtually pain-free, you will be surprised when you realize that you "didn't feel a thing."  Acupuncture stimulates blood flow, moves qi, increases functionality of organs, decreases inflammation, reduces pain, and restores homeostasis, amongst many other things.

Herbal Therapy

I spent years training in Chinese herbal therapy, and have an extensive knowledge of herb and drug interactions.  I use herbal medicine with most patients who are open to it, and find great success in using herbs to compliment the acupuncture treatments themselves.  I use the highest quality herbs available, and offer patients herbal consults with acupuncture treatments, or as a separate service.

TuiNa   *   Fire Cupping   *   Guasha

These techniques are used when applicable.  TuiNa is an ancient form of bodywork, with functions similar to acupuncture itself, and is used primarily for pain and tension.  Cupping and Guasha are methods to release the muscle layer, move stagnation, and relieve tension in the body.

Nutritional counseling and Lifestyle counseling

I use dietary therapy as a primary method of treating disease and illness.  Food is medicine, and all patients receive individualized counsel on foods they should be eating.  I often give my patients homework, whether it be exercises to perform daily, or simply achieving a small goal each week.  It is important for patients to understand that they are part of the healing process, and that they must be engaged and willing to participate.

Qi Gong

Qi Gong is a form of internal martial arts that aims to cultivate energy.  This simple and graceful form of exercise is practiced to maintain health and wellness, increase vitality, and strengthen the body, both internally and externally.  I offer patients Qi Gong moves to practice regularly at home, these moves are specific to the health concern presented, and improve the healing capacity of the body.  I teach Qi Gong to seniors at a retirement home weekly, and offer those interested, both private and group lessons.
